ABOUT
About the National Office of Maritime Signaling
The National Office of Maritime Signaling (ONSM) is a Public Administrative Establishment (EPA) placed under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures. Established by Decree No. 85-236 on August 25, 1985, its headquarters are strategically located at No. 6, Boulevard Colonel Amirouche, Algiers.
Our establishment is responsible for the overall design, construction, and operational maintenance of all aid to marine navigation systems. This encompasses both land-based infrastructures (such as our historic lighthouses, port signaling lights, and electrical signal broadcasting stations) and floating structures (such as signaling and luminous buoys).
As a leading authority, it serves as the primary instrument for supervisory authorities in drafting, preparing, and implementing national and international policy measures regarding maritime signaling. Furthermore, the Office is an eligible and active member of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA / A.I.S.M.).
